Fog, Lighthouse Point, Point Reyes (2005)
This is an aerial shot of Point Reyes, made from a light plane flying at 2000 feet, the minimum legal altitude over the Golden Gate NRA. It was clear just inland and I was hoping to get pictures of the lighthouse at sunset. But coastal stratus was being pulled in over the land by the rising warmer air there -- a common situation on the California coast. It wasn't a wasted trip, though, as the fog made a lovely picture, and on the way back I got another of the hills of west Marin county in the dusky light of evening, also in this gallery.
